A's hire A's, C's hire C's: Interview Strategies

Updated: Feb 7

January 15, 2026.

In this edition of our newsletter, we're talking about the most dreaded stage of the job-hunting process: interviews.

We Need to Talk About Interviews

Unless you’re on the Oprah show or you’re being written up in the paper (for something good), no one likes interviews.

It’s like preparing for a test, trying to remember what to say and what not to say, smart but not too smart (overqualification is suddenly a bad thing) or friendly but not too friendly.

But more importantly,

It’s your big chance to secure information about the company.

Career Care Package: The Jamaican Salaries Website

Glassdoor and LinkedIn are pretty unreliable for company reviews in Jamaica, and we’d hate for you to go in blind.

But with this tool, you get to see exactly what people earn monthly in specific companies, how they were employed and in which sector, as well as honest opinions from current employees on how the work environment is!

Start using it in your job search to make better decisions!

The Career Advantage System!

Our signature package that handles everything: the strategy (career coaching), the presentation (resume and LinkedIn), and the follow-through (interview prep). We provide the support so you have a clear path from start to finish.

Ready to earn your worth?

Clarity Corner!

Is it okay to ask your interviewer, "What's your favourite thing about working here?"

ABSOLUTELY!

It’s one of my favourite questions because getting someone to talk about themselves makes them feel good and, in turn, feel more positively about you.

You’ll also find out what the company actually values:

“The best part is the team.” —> strong work culture

“Oh, it’s just a great place to work." —> Nothing else? Not good.

You can go even bolder and ask

"What’s something you wish you knew before working here?"

You’ll still get a solid answer, seeing the good and the bad.
